Its official...we now own a business...sort of

I am proud to announce the grand opening of my new website. We have officially opened for business. I've always been "crafty" and after our grand-daughter was born, I started making hair bows again. Now, I did make a few when dd was little but these are not anywhere near the same category of bows. I took to visiting a bow-making forum and seeing what these gals were selling on ebay and etsy. Dh & I started talking about doing something with all this crafty "stuff" I love to make. Since he is now a power seller on Ebay, I thought we would sell on ebay. But, to my surprise, he wanted to create a website strictly for my stuff. After much research and trial and error on website building, we took the plunge and paid for web hosting. After about a month of figuring out how all that works, we were up and running.
We've had some local sales so far, and hope for some online sales any day now. The site has been getting hits daily, so hopefully it's just a matter of time. Pricing and shipping seem to be our biggest respective worries right now. We are talking about adding adsense, but I want it to be unobtrusive (sp?). I know which websites I love and hate to shop, & clutter really turns me off. Wish us luck in our new venture! Take a look at what we've done so far.

In other unrelated news, the daycare where I work is experiencing some changes. I look forward to them, even though it means an increase in our workload. The changes are for the best and will benefit the children. That's the whole point, so I have no problems with that. And of course, I am getting a paycheck, so I have no problem working for it. I just hope that most of the other employees can handle the change with a positive attitude. We have our first big meeting on Monday night & it should be a hum dinger! I've experienced a whole new side of the childcare arena, since I've been working in the director's office lately. I've been trying to help her get more organized (which all my colleagues seem to think I am, but dh disagrees). Anyway, it's been a confirmation of my feelings that I DON'T want to open, run, or even be the director of a childcare setting. I just don't need that kind of stress!
People can be such idjits at times, some more than others, but wow! Working around all these other women and then coming home to work with a man is like..., well let's just say it's different!
Ok, off to bed-dy bye now - just felt the need to blog!

Paint cans came in today!

I picked up my CASE of paint cans today after work. 34 shiny new cans! I've been making altered paint cans for awhile now, dh says I need to get busy selling them. I am working on pink LSU altered paint cans tonight. One has some bling & the other is a little less flashy. Matching ribbons to this fabric has been a royal pain, but I'm finally getting somewhere. I can't wait to try pink John Deere cans tomorrow. Guess I better get back to it, they aren't going to finish themselves, & it's past my bedtime.

I haven't seen Olivia Grace today or yesterday. Guess I'll track her down tomorrow, although I did see her Daddy twice. It's gotten cold so I'm just glad she is not out and about. At least I know she has plenty of blankies. (soft baby blankets are my current weakness)

My quest today...

I went shopping for LSU fabric to make more paint cans, apparently they are #1 in the country in college football or something. (NOT a big sports fan) Anyway, I didn't find what I was looking for but found PINK LSU fabric (terrible photo, it's ths same color as the JD) & PINK John Deer fabric! I think they will make HOT cans for local sales. I don't know how they will do on ebay, but I may have dh list 'em just to see.

I am so excited! I have a CASE of gallon paint cans coming in on Tuesday. The guy at Sherwin Williams kept looking at me strangely, when I would go in to ask if they had any empty gallon cans to sell me. I finally got up my nerve and asked him if he would order some for me. When he asked me how many, I asked him how much a case would cost me. He said... "Ma'am, there are 34 cans in a case!" The look on his face was priceless - guess I'll have to take a finished can or two in to show those guys one day. (I'm sure they think I'm insane.) Anyway, I have a ton more sorting and prepping to do IF I want to be ready for my CASE of cans on Tues.

I've been busy...

cleaning up my scraproom, sorting through old & new stuff, and actually making a few things. I made a paint can & altered a baby wipe holder for my new grand-daughter. (sounds weird). I'm still not used to the idea of being a grandmother, but I sure am getting attached to that sweet little girl. She turns and looks straight at me when she hears my voice. It's like she already knows how much I love her.

Shopping did the trick!

Definitely inspired now... two hundred dollars later. :( BUT, I came home & started going back thru all my other stuff & got inpired all over again. (Bet my hubby wishes I had done THAT to begin with! )
So here I sit with all these amazing supplies, ready to get creative and swamp ebay with all these cute altered paint cans. Why am I still sitting here???? Well, let me just tell you why. I spent $4.50 each on 3 one gallon cans at Lowe's, had to pick through them high on the shelf just to find those 3 that weren't dented, etc. Drove 30 miles home, started those 3 & ran to the local Sherwin-Williams paint store for more. Still with me? THEY WERE OUT OF PAINT CANS!!!!!! All they carry is paint & paint supplies. Plus they acted like morons & couldn't tell me when or IF they would get any more!
So here I sit... I've resorted to putting supplies together in ziploc bags and gluing clothespins to my shelf above my work space to hang them from.
Hu-hum. Now what?!?!? I want paint cans, waaaaah! So here I sit, whining. Anybody feel sorry for me, anybody???

Not very productive right now...

I've been spending most of my spare time making games for my pre-k class. I need to stock up on paint cans. I'm feeling like doing some cute baby items, since I am expecting my first grandchild any day now. I guess I should tidy up my craft room and go shopping, hmmm... now that always gets me inspired! A shopping trip is definitely in order. See you soon... hopefully with something to share!
